What happens in a physiotherapy consultation

Your physiotherapist will take a detailed history of your condition, which will then guide a physical assessment to not only identify the site of injury/pain, but also look at your biomechanics to establish possible causative factors.

From there, your physiotherapist will educate you on the nature of the condition, what things to modify within your day to day activities as well as sports/exercise, and prescribe exercises to settle your pain, build back up your capacity and strengthen/stretch relevant areas. Treatment may also involve other adjuncts such as manual therapy (massage/mobilisation) and taping. Your physiotherapist will provide you with a plan for recovery and will monitor and adjust your program based on your progress.
