With all the physical activities on offer in Tokyo and throughout Japan, injuries are a common occurrence amongst expats and travelers.
As such, sports medicine is a key focus for our clinic, and we have experienced practitioners who are able to assess and treat a wide range of acute and chronic injuries.

Sports Medicine
We provide acute care, diagnosis and rehabilitation for injuries in athletes of all levels, from novice to professional. Our experience extends to managing a wide range of athletic problems found in adults and children of all ages. We also provide pre-season medical checks.
Orthopedics Specialists
For patients with complex injuries requiring specialist-level care, we have several visiting orthopedic specialists who are able to see patients at our clinic.

Investigations available on-site include

CT and MRI scans can be conveniently arranged at a nearby English-speaking radiology center.
Treatments
Once an injury is diagnosed, treatments are generally performed on-site. Available treatments include:
- Steroid injections
- Casting
- Joint braces
- Crutches
- Walking boots
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy and rehabilitation is an indispensable part of treatment for most musculoskeletal injuries. We have on-site physiotherapists who are experienced in sports medicine to ensure optimal functional recovery.

Dr Ivor Cammack
MBChB (Medical Doctorate) New Zealand FRNZGP
A Kiwi-British GP and partner in the clinic, Dr Cammack has a
specialist interests in sports medicine and injury management,
and speaks fluent French.
He completed training in New Zealand and practiced injury and
general medicine in a ski resort in Hokkaido for several years
before moving to Tokyo in 2020. He has postgraduate
qualifications in Pediatrics, Palliative care and Medical
education. Ivor lived in France and speaks fluent French.

Dr Thomas Lomax
MBBS (Medical Doctorate) London,BSc,DRCOG,MRCGP(UK)
A UK-trained GP and partner in the clinic, Dr Lomax has
special interests in minor surgery and sports medicine, and
has practiced at Tokyo Medical and Surgical clinic for over 15
years.
He graduated from London University (Royal Free Hospital) in
2000 and worked in Surgery and Emergency Medicine in St
Georges Hospital, London, for five years. Subsequently trained
in general practice, gaining experience in Psychiatry and a
doctorate in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Passed the MRCGP
(Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners)
exam in 2008 and shortly after moved to Tokyo where he has
practiced since.

Dr Kazuhisa Takahashi
An orthopedic surgeon specializing in spinal conditions, Dr
Takahashi graduated from Chiba University before researching
at the Mayo Clinic in the US.
Dr Takahashi graduated from School of Medicine, Chiba
University in 1976. He then studied orthopedic biomechanics at
Mayo Clinic from 1980 through 1981 as a research fellow.
He was granted a Ph.D. degree in 1982 from Chiba University
and was the Professor and Chairman of the Department of
Orthopedic Surgery, Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba
University until March of 2016. His specialty is spinal
orthopedics, with a particular interest in low back pain

Dr Hiroshi Iwaso
An orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder conditions, Dr Iwaso has extensive experience in sports trauma as a doctor for J-league soccer team and a Japanese American Football team.
Graduated from Tohoku University in 1986, Dr Iwaso has
performed over 1300 shoulder joint surgeries and over 500 knee
surgeries, with a focus on ACL reconstructive surgery.
