Cardiology

We offer investigation and treatment of non-urgent cardiac conditions, with both primary care and cardiologist consultations as needed. For complex conditions, referral can be arranged to local tertiary centers.

Urgent symptoms

Please note that as we are an outpatient clinic, we are not equipped to treat patients with cardiac emergencies. For patients experiencing the following symptoms, we strongly recommend calling an ambulance via 119 for urgent assessment at an emergency department:

  • Acute or severe chest pain
  • Acute shortness of breath
  • Loss of consciousness

GP consultations

Our primary care and internal medicine doctors are available full-time, and as such are usually the best choice for a first consultation regarding non-urgent cardiovascular conditions such as:

  • High cholesterol
  • Hypertension
  • Cardiovascular risk assessment
  • Palpitations
  • Non-acute chest pain

Investigations

Cardiac investigations available on-site include

  • ECG
  • Blood tests including rapid troponin
  • Stress ECG(available weekday am)
  • 24 hour ECG (available weekday am)
  • Cardiac ultrasound (available weekday am)
  • Carotid ultrasound (available weekday am)

Specialist consultations

Our visiting cardiologist, Dr Sakata, is able to provide investigations and arrange treatment for complex cardiac conditions, including:

  • Arrhythmias
  • Heart valve disease
  • Heart failure
  • Cardiomyopathies

Dr Yoshihito Sakata

MD,FSCAI,FACC

A US-board certified cardiologist, Dr Sakata completed medical school in Japan before finishing his residency and fellowship in the US. He currently works as Director of the Heart Center at Ikegami General Hospital in Tokyo.

Graduated from Hokkaido University School of Medicine, and completed postgraduate studies at Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine.

Fellowship (Cardiology) : University of Cincinnati Hospital (OH, USA)
