Receiving adequate vaccination as per CDC guidelines is a requirement to pass the Visa Physical Examination. The required vaccinations vary according to the age of the applicant. For an up to date list of these, please see the links below:
Polio Virus vaccination
Due to the on-going risk of polio transmission, clients who have lived in certain high-risk countries for 4 weeks or more in the last 12 months are required to show proof of polio vaccination. If no vaccination records are available, polio vaccination will be offered at the time of examination.
Antibody testing
For Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella, applicants without official vaccination records may choose to do antibody tests instead. These results will be available in 3-4 working days. A follow-up visit for vaccination will be required if the antibody result is negative.
Tuberculosis
For patients with a history of tuberculosis, sputum culture testing is required. This takes a total of 10 weeks to process due to the time taken to perform the test. Please note that for patients who have a history of tuberculosis or findings suggestive of tuberculosis on their Xray, the submission time may be significantly delayed due to this.
Submission times
For eMedical exams with normal results and no additional testing requirements, results will be submitted online directly to US Immigration through the eMedical system within 5-7 working days. Paper-based exams with normal results will be completed in about 7 working days before posting or pick-up. For patients with abnormal results or other testing requirements, submission time may vary according to these conditions. For an estimate of the submission time in these cases, please discuss this with the doctor at the time of appointment.
